Most folks that I am acquainted with, have only known me to be a singer and a music educator. Soaping became an outlet and interest for me a few years ago, as I was quite honestly fighting for peace of mind and a sense of normalcy after surviving domestic abuse. Completing even basic tasks felt daunting. I eventually came to realize that whenever I reached a moment of indecision and overwhelm (which was multiple times a day at that point), I would almost instinctively go into the bathroom and let the water run until I felt more calm and clear. That bathroom was where I had found refuge and the sound of that running water was what masked my tears and prayers in the days and months before.
I took a sort of “one foot in front of the other” approach on most days. I would allow myself to reset whenever I needed it, by simply sitting quietly and applying lotion or body butter to my skin. As time went on, I came to understand that with or without the running water, those peaceful, intentional “little moments” were more powerful than I knew - they were shaping my days and brightening my perspective. I knew then that I wanted to be able to make products that helped to facilitate that same kind of respite and hope for others, regardless of where they might find themselves in life.
This company is about way more than soap. It’s been my own story of redemption and it is my sincere hope that in some way, it is an encouragement to others.
